Known as Ahmet the Honeybee, Ahmet Faik Şener is the top virtuoso of harmonica in Turkey. He got his first harmonica when he was at elementary school. While studying law at college, he founded his first band Balarıları (Honeybees), in which he sang as well as played the accordion and rhythm instruments, with Şerif Yüzbaşıoğlu on piano and Şefik Uyguner on flute. With his faithful instrument that he carried with him for many years, he interpreted and performed all kinds of songs from classical music to folk, including Malcolm Arnold and Marcello’s oboe concertos written for the harmonica at various locales such as radio studios, concert halls, night-clubs and TV shows.
