Çağrı Sertel’s interest in music goes back to when he was 12 years old when he started playing keyboards. This interest resulted in writing his own songs when he was at high school and later on culminated in a strong career after studying with the likes of Aydın Esen, Ricky Ford, Donovan Mixon, Cengiz Baysal, Can Kozlu, and Selen Gülün at Bilgi University. The listeners were first introduced to his compositions through his debut album Newborn in 2010, and in 2017, he presented his free-wheeling melodies with Engin Recepoğulları on saxophone, Sarp Maden on guitar, Volkan Hürsever on double-bass, and Volkan Öktem on drums in his sophomore album Instant. On this festival night at Salon, jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and producer Çağrı Sertel, whose structurally unrestricted music is a masterful display of his expressions on life, will be playing songs from Instant, which harbors ethnic elements in its modern jazz and progressive style. Before Çağrı Sertel, Lara Di Lara and Levni’s brand new joint project Alike Places will put you on board with indie R&B, IDM and hip-hop sounds.
