YOUNG JAZZ
The Young Jazz Concerts continue to provide a chance for the younger/amateur musicians to participate in the Festival’s programme. The honour guest of Young Jazz is the young Norwegian saxophonist Kjetil Møster, who received this year’s International Jazz Festivals Organization’s “International Jazz Award For New Talent”. The Young Jazz Concerts will take place on 9 May at Parkorman.

Having their initial training from their father, Mümin Sanliel, 2 Saksofon is a band of two brothers young brothers of 11 and 12. On their way to a bright musical career, these young gifted musicians will play songs from artists such as Michael Brekker and Stan Getz.

With their set-up of piano, bass and drums the trio Uzunyol Üçlüsü prefers to take the Anatolian references as their sources instead of American standards. They believe that jazz is also a “universal folk music”. The trio reforms Turkish folk songs with the flavour of jazz.

Gevende was formed in Eskisehir in 2000. They define their music style-a combination of jazz and ethnic music- as “psychedelic folk”. Having played in a variety of local festivals and events they are best known for their impressive stage performance including their live improvisations.

Norwegian saxophonist Kjetil Møster has been collaborating in a variety of bands which experiment with the crossing point between jazz, improvisation and rock. With a unique style of blending jazz and different forms of rock, Kjetil Møster group will present a performance ranging from free jazz to metal-jazz.
