Winners of the prestigious Mercury Prize for best album in 2005, Antony And The Johnsons are maybe the best thing to come out from New York City in the past few years. Having won numerous awards for the album, I Am A Bird Now, Antony Hegarty’s enchanting emotional vocals often compared to Aaron Neville, Nina Simone and Bryan Ferry, have earned them devoted fans such as Kate Bush, Philip Glass, Björk and Rufus Wainwright among many others. Leaving the homeland Britain for USA, Antony worked as a cabaret artist in New York. Lou Reed and Boy George are amongst the musicians who collaborated in the album I Am A Bird Now. Antony, also worked with Björk for her last album Volta. With their intense and dramatic music Antony And The Johnsons are without a doubt one of the greatest and unique discoveries of recent years. José González, a musician who has resisted the musical trends and has successfully created his own soulful style, also achieved a well-earned place in the charts. He has also received great appreciation in Turkey, with his hit singles, “Heartbeats” and “Crosses”. González has been compared to musical craftsmen like Nick Drake, Tim Buckley and Will Oldham.
