Named as “Africa’s premier diva” and “the undisputed Queen of African Music,” Angelique Kidjo is one of the most powerful voices of world music. Blending African music with a variety of genres ranging from American soul music to funk, rap to samba and reggae to jazz, Kidjo won the Best Contemporary World Music Album Grammy with her 2008 album Djin Djin and nominated in the same category with Oyo, her next album. Following the release of her 2014 record Eve, Kidjo is going to give her first solo concert in Istanbul as part of the festival.
