Jazz in the Parks on both sides of Bosphorus, in 5 parks and with dozens of concerts

Jazz in the Parks, the event that brings music from the stages to the parks, will take place this year with five events.

Jazz, blues, bebop and pop vocalist Woodward’s career led her to perform in album recordings of musicians such as Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Snarky Puppy, and Barbra Streisand after her path crossed with Atlantic Records when she was waitressing in New York. Woodward will be the star of free concerts that will brighten up the opening days of the festival in Şişli and Kadıköy.

The guests of Jazz in the Parks, which will be visiting Beylikdüzü Yaşam Valley and Beşiktaş Artists Park towards the close of the festival, include the Viennese ensemble Fainschmitz which concocts a colourful mixture of Gypsy swing, chanson, jazz, pop and punk. Barbaros Erköse, who introduced the world to his music from music halls of Bursa and İstanbul and received the festival's Lifetime Achievement Award last year, and his veteran clarinet are the guests of honour exclusively at Beylikdüzü stage.

Among the talents to be discovered in the parks are Udgang who blend familiar timbres with jazz standards, Afroloji who adds afrobeat to the popular jazz repertoire, Young Jazz finalists, and many more musicians with the valuable collaborations of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s support network #IstanbulBirSahne for musicians adversely affected by the pandemic.
