LOS DE ABAJO

Los de Abajo formed in 1992 initially had a Latin-ska sound in mind, but as their ranks expanded, they soon began hosting high-energy gigs at various ersatz clubs and spaces in Mexico City’s largely improvised rock scene. They soon learned that the only way to survive was to do it themselves, through their people and their own roots, forgetting about the glamour, and making their way as musicians. Doing the most punk and radical thing, they decided to combine their sentiments with the strength and heat of Afro-Latin rhythms. The result is an exciting combination of rock energy, salsa, reggae and cumbia and sounds like salsafied rock.
