Experience the atmosphere of New Orleans in the heart of Istanbul

City life where we struggle with traffic, never-ending jobs, working overtime... The antidote to busy city life might be in listening to some exquisite melodies lying on the grass on a hot summer day. The Habitat Park, located at the entrance of Nişantaşı Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Centre (ICEC), which offers respite from urban life in the heart of Istanbul, will be opening its doors to the warm culture of New Orleans today. Tuba Skinny, one of the star guests of Jazz in the Parks this year, consists of street musicians. The ensemble, which renders the sadness, joy and spirit of the people of New Orleans, is known for its invigorating stage performance. A Young Jazz+ finalist will take the stage before Tuba Skinny, as well as Kolektif İstanbul & Friends who were invited as a result of the festival’s five year-long collaboration with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR); a collaboration that’s based on the shared belief in the healing power of dialogue and cultural diversity. Kolektif İstanbul will be joined by refugee musicians, Mbala Ekada (Congo) on bass, Bardia Hafizi (Iran) on zarb and setar, and Wassim Mataoui (Algeria) on accordions to energize everyone by embracing multiplicity of voices. As a reminder, this year, as every year, all Jazz in the Parks events are free of charge.
