Melody Gardot lead vocal, Jorge Bezerra percussions, Philippe Powell keyboard, Chris Thomas bass, Irwin Hall saxophone

One of Istanbul’s favourite pop-jazz vocalists

Hers is a hazy but gracefully glowing voice. Different from everyone else’s, and yet so familiar. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Melody Gardot... Saxophones have accompanied her soothing alto voice since the first day she appeared on stages. She has reflected all the feelings brought by the atmosphere of New Jersey, where she was born in 1985, and the trauma of the bicycle accident that dramatically changed her life, through her music. Gardot combines her inspiration from jazz with other genres she was influenced by and creates her own music. Despite all the difficulties, she recorded her debut album Worrisome Heart, written in her hospital bed after the accident, selling more than 100,000 copies in the United States alone. Her style shifted to a soft Latin sound with her second album, My One and Only Thrill, and her voice also became richer. Her following album, The Absence and Currency of Men, has topped the charts, and she has performed at the world’s largest jazz festivals such as Montreux in Switzerland and the North Sea in Rotterdam. Melody Gardot’s unique stage performances, which she designs as a calm but exciting journey that combines R&B, blues and jazz, continues to captivate the audience. Are you ready to meet with this elegant vocal, who has a special bond with the festival audience, once again?
