A powerful voice from the heart of America reaching the Bosphorus
Lizz Wright sings emotional songs which shed light on America’s history with her impeccable technique in her dark and deep alto vocals. Wright, who started her music career with gospel vocals fitting her Georgia roots, continues to be influenced by all the music of the continent she was born in, embracing innovations while maintaining her signature style in every new production.
The air of confidence in her gentle voice, which we first heard in her debut album Salt, adds a modest strength to her style. Her blend of jazz, folk and Americana and her remarkable sophisticated vision has made her one of the outstanding soloists of her genre over the years. She was widely praised for her unifying language on her album Grace, in which she returns to her southern roots. This concert will be an excellent opportunity for the festival audience to meet Lizz Wright.
Elif Sanchez, who brings jazz, flamenco and Latin music to life with her unique vocals, will be with us before Lizz Wright on a night of smooth transitions between musical genres.
