Jazz in the Parks, one of the traditional events of the festival, invites Istanbulites this summer to enjoy music in the open air.

Jazz in the Parks, one of the most enjoyable events of the Istanbul Jazz Festival, once again invites all music lovers to the parks this year. Successful music bands from Turkey and the world will take the stage in concerts spread across different corners of the city, transforming the parks into festival grounds for a day.

There is no limit to innovation in music, as the music of the Hungarian band Duckshell attests to so cheerfully. Founded in 2017, the band brought together the sounds of two completely different geographies that unite only in their love for dance and rhythm, the Balkans and South America. They added a touch of ska, punk, and hip-hop, creating a vibrant and colourful celebration that they aptly named ‘sunshine-punk’.

Duckshell released their first EP, Szólok Anyunak, in 2019, followed by their second EP, Academia Banana, in 2020. Their 12-track debut album, Sötét Anyag, was released in 2022. The band’s energy and rhythm have spread across Europe with their performances at festivals in France, the Netherlands, Poland, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Turkey. Wherever they perform, they turn the event into a party. Now they are coming to Turkey, where they are much loved, to dance together.

This summer, Istanbul’s parks will be filled with both jazz and celebration with Duckshell.

Before Duckshell, Young Jazz Musicians of 2024 and 19th Nardis Young Jazz Vocal Competition winner Begüm Çelebi will take the stage.
