The talk titled ‘Groove on the Brain: How Jazz Shapes the Mind’ is organised in collaboration with the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) and the Istanbul Jazz Festival, on the occasion of the 49th FEBS Congress which will be held in Istanbul from 5-9 July.

Neuroscientist, composer, jazz musician, and the director of the Danish National Research Foundation’s Center for Music in the Brain, Peter Vuurst, will be accompanied by Prof. Dr. Güneş Özhan, head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Izmir Institute of Technology, and various musicians from Türkiye. The interactive session will take the audience on a journey through the rhythms, melodies, and improvisations of jazz, allowing them to experience how the brain processes sound physiologically, emotionally, and linguistically.
