Known for pushing the limits of jazz with her groundbreaking compositions, Jazzmeia Horn will perform at the 32nd Istanbul Jazz Festival.

By enriching the building blocks of music with modern touches, themes, and styles, Jazzmeia Horn expands the boundaries of jazz and is now ready to share her musical recipes with the festival audience.

With a wide-ranging vocal style along with innovative compositions, Jazzmeia Horn quickly became a standout talent in the jazz world. In her debut album Social Call, widely regarded as one of the strongest breakthroughs of recent years, she seamlessly blends mid-20th century jazz with neo-soul, addressing social issues at the forefront. In her follow-up album, Love & Liberation, which came to life with the money she earned from online teaching, she shifted focus from jazz standards to record her own compositions. Both her first two albums were nominated for Grammy Awards.

Jazzmeia, bold and affectionate like Sarah Vaughan, and solid like Betty Carter, has kept reaching new heights. Her third album, Dear Love, was an ambitious big band project featuring her own arrangements. It showcased a blend of original compositions and inventive reinterpretations of jazz standards, woven together in a rich and cohesive musical tapestry, and earned Jazzmeia her third Grammy nomination. Her latest album released in 2024, Messages, was a prescription for courage in the face of challenging decisions. This time, she took her contributions to the jazz repertoire to a new level with an album created with a simpler ensemble.
