The 33rd Istanbul Jazz Festival presents Veronica Swift, one of the most compelling jazz vocalists of her generation, for its closing night.

Her flawless scat technique and expansive vocal range set Veronica Swift apart as far more than a bebop star. Her true hallmark lies in a spirit deeply rooted in jazz yet infused with the fire of rock’n’roll. A natural, multi-dimensional talent of her generation, Swift channels this richness into trans genre explorations, creations, and performances.

She joined Chris Botti’s touring band, as well as touring with Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and recording with Jeff Goldblum. In 2024, she was honoured with a French knighthood as Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters.With her first two albums, she gifted swing and bebop lovers a true treasure, and through her vocal range and technical mastery, she introduced a bold, defining jazz voice for the 21st century. With This Bitter World, a work that continues the artistic arc of her second album, Swift took a strikingly protest-driven turn, making powerful references to women’s social status, racism, and the post-truth era. From virtuosic scat solos and Queen references to performances in French and Spanish; from the fugue section she composed into the middle of ‘I Am What I Am’ to her guitar interpretation of Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Sonata’ in ‘In the Moonlight’, her self-titled album Veronica Swift succeeded in captivating both jazz purists and lovers of experimental music alike.

With her exceptional vocal command, electrifying energy, and commanding stage presence, Veronica Swift comes to the festival for an unforgettable closing performance.
